Maharashtra boasts a rich and illustrious history, with the era of Shivaji Maharaj standing out as a source of immense pride for all. One of his most formidable opponents was Adilshah of Bijapur, the ruling ruler of Konkan and Maharashtra, who was a significant threat to Shivaji’s quest for independence. Shivaji Maharaj successfully established Swaraj in these regions, liberating the local people from Adilshah’s oppressive rule, which made Adilshah his chief adversary. In his bid to assert control, Adilshah declared war on Shivaji Maharaj and managed to seize the strategic Panhala Fort. Despite numerous efforts by Shivaji to reclaim the fort, he was unable to succeed initially. Recognizing the importance of fortifying his hold, Adilshah appointed the ruthless Beshakh Khan as the custodian of Panhala. Beshakh Khan’s unlawful and immoral actions posed a serious threat to Shivaji’s sovereignty and hindered his plans for coronation and consolidation of power. Reclaiming Panhala fort became a matter of immense pride and strategic importance for Shivaji Maharaj. The movie *Farzand* vividly depicts the heroic efforts of Shivaji’s 60 brave warriors, led by Kondaji Farzand, showcasing their remarkable achievements in capturing Panhala Fort and turning the tide in Shivaji’s favor.
