In the 1980s, Manoharan emerged as a prominent figure in the city's illicit crude oil smuggling operations. He was strongly opposed to Patani's vision of establishing a private port that could serve as a major center for black market oil trafficking. To leverage his influence, Manoharan hijacked a substantial amount of oil from the pipeline, using it as leverage to pressure the government into realizing his ambitions. Ultimately, Vasu uncovers the stolen oil, bringing the clandestine activities to light.
