As opportunistic oil prospectors and investors began to swarm around her property, Sarah relied on her family, friends, and local Texas wildcatters to safeguard her interests. Through their support and her determination, she managed to retain control of her lucrative oil holdings, ultimately becoming one of the nation's first female African-American millionaires at just eleven years old.
