Following the hijacking of IC-814 in 1999 and the attack on Parliament in 2001, India’s Intelligence Bureau Chief, Ajay Sanyal, formulated a bold and resolute strategy to dismantle and disrupt terrorist networks operating in Pakistan. His plan focused on infiltrating the criminal underworld of Karachi to weaken terrorist operations from within. Central to this covert mission was the identification of a 20-year-old youth from Punjab, who was currently imprisoned for a revenge-related offense. Sanyal selected this individual to carry out a carefully orchestrated operation aimed at infiltrating the terrorist ecosystem and undermining their activities from the inside.
