Anu regularly counsels Heloisa in her clinical practice. Each time Heloisa falls in love, she spirals into intense, tormenting obsessions centered on her beloved, a psychological pattern that deeply intrigues Anu—both professionally and personally. Heloisa’s complex and disturbed mind captivates Anu in ways she struggles to fully comprehend. However, their sessions come to an abrupt halt when Heloisa suddenly discontinues therapy. The story takes a turn during a midsummer gathering with friends, when Anu’s son Antti arrives accompanied by his new girlfriend—who, unexpectedly, is Heloisa.
